Cherbonnier/Rillieux Elementary Policies & Procedures
Daily Drop Off and Pick-up Information:
Our school hours are 8:30 AM – 3:20 PM. Students will be allowed on campus no earlier than 8:00 AM. Students may NOT be left unattended in the carpool area or school office in the mornings. Please wait until a faculty or staff member is present on duty before letting your child out of the vehicle. Again this school year, students will have breakfast in their classrooms. Breakfast in the classroom begins at 8:20 AM. Please make sure your child reports to school on time so he/she may participate in breakfast with his/her classmates and teacher. The breakfast in the classroom program ensures that EVERY student has the opportunity to receive a breakfast meal FREE of charge even if the student does not receive free lunch meals.
Our homeroom bell rings at 8:20 AM. Any student reporting to school after 8:35 AM will be considered tardy and MUST be brought into the school office to be signed in by a parent or designated adult.
Unfortunately, we do NOT have child care at our school site, so it is important that students are picked-up from school on time at 3:20 PM when our school day ends. Carpool students who are not picked-up on time will have to be signed-out in the school office by a parent or designated adult.
As a safety measure, we will continue enforcing our carpool drop-off and pick-up policy. Our walkers will be dismissed first followed by our carpool students. During afternoon dismissal, parents will be REQUIRED to get in the carpool line. Parents will NOT be allowed to pick-up students if they are parked on the street or in front of a resident’s home. Students who are walkers MUST cross the street with the crossing guard and WALK to their destination. Walkers are expected to walk and not to be picked-up in a vehicle. We have this policy in place to ensure the safety of our students, your children. Please know our intent is NOT to inconvenience anyone. It takes more effort from us to ensure safety, and we are committed to making sure ALL of our students are safe. We need your commitment as well. We look forward to your COOPERATION with our carpool procedures.
Friendly Health Reminder:
According to Louisiana immunization guidelines, all students attending a Louisiana school MUST have proof of a second dose of the Varicella vaccine (chicken pox). In addition, any student who is eleven years of age, or older, must be vaccinated with the Meningococcal vaccine. This must be documented by a current State of Louisiana Universal Certificate of Immunization. Our school nurse will be checking shot records, and letters will be sent home on an as needed basis.
